HGH Booster
“HGH booster” is a commercial term for products that are supposed to raise growth hormone (GH) levels. The name covers three different groups: growth hormone itself, compounds that stimulate its release, and supplements with amino acids or herbs.
Growth hormone is a medicine, not a supplement
Growth hormone (somatropin) is a medicine used in people with a documented deficiency of this hormone. In the United States its use as an anti-ageing therapy is not approved by the FDA, and distribution for this purpose is illegal (Liu et al., 2007).
What have research reviews shown?
In healthy older people, growth hormone reduced fat mass by an average of 2.1 kg and increased lean body mass by 2.1 kg, with no change in body weight. Oedema, joint pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and gynaecomastia occurred more often. The authors concluded that GH cannot be recommended as an anti-ageing therapy (Liu et al., 2007).
In young, trained people, growth hormone increased lean body mass but did not improve strength or exercise capacity (Liu et al., 2008).
Anti-doping status
The 2026 WADA Prohibited List places growth hormone in class S2.2.3 and compounds that stimulate its release in class S2.2.4. Both are prohibited at all times.
Growth hormone in the Endogenic catalogue
Oxytropin in the Endogenic catalogue is a chemical reagent intended exclusively for laboratory research (Research Use Only). It is not a medicinal product, dietary supplement or food. It is not intended for use in humans or animals. It is not a substitute for somatropin medicines such as Genotropin® and does not replace medical consultation.
